Hiroshima Interpreter & Guide Association (HIGA) is a nonprofit organization, comprised of nationally-licensed bilingual guides and interpreters. In response to the internationalization of Hiroshima, HIGA was established in September 1992, prior to the 12th Asian Games, with the help and support of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Hiroshima prefectural and municipal governments and other tourism-related organizations.
HIGA is a human-resource organization, whose membership includes professional bilingual guides and interpreters, competent conference interpreters, translators and others with various career backgrounds. HIGA not only works hard to meet individual requests, but also strives to promote international exchange both within and outside of Hiroshima.
